Meet Dr. Sam Malcheff

Dr. Sam is a Michigan native, born and raised in Rochester Hills. He graduated from the University of Detroit Jesuit High School, where the school’s values of service, compassion, and leadership shaped much of who he is today.

Before pursuing dentistry, Dr. Sam served as a Detroit firefighter while taking science classes at Wayne State University. It was during this time—working, studying, and serving his community—that he discovered his true calling and joined the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

While working at a Detroit community health clinic, he noticed how quickly he connected with kids and how much he loved teaching them about their health. That spark grew into a passion for pediatric dentistry.

Today, Dr. Sam is a board-certified pediatric dentist, a dad of two, and a clinical teacher at the University of Michigan. His mission at Canton Pediatric DentistryClick to open in this tab is to create a calm, kid-friendly space where smiles can grow—and where families feel truly supported.

He’s often on the go as the official swim and soccer “cabbie” for his children.

He also loves skiing, traveling, and finding new ways to unwind with his wife and kids.

  • In the Community
From serving patients in Detroit to building smiles in Canton, Dr. Sam has always believed in giving back.

Before becoming a dentist, he proudly served as a Detroit firefighter, and today he continues that spirit of service through teaching and mentoring. As a longtime lecturer at the University of Michigan, Dr. Sam is helping shape the future of pediatric dentistry while supporting the community he loves.
